Woke up this morning with a strong urge to
ask the Internet if anyone knew how Anthony Rizzo was feeling today. The feeling
got more urgent as the day wore on. I began to wonder if the Internet was
working properly. Or perhaps, that this information was being unfairly kept
from people.
Meanwhile the Giants manager Bruce Bochy thinks
my catcher Buster Posey will be back today after a day of rest for his swollen
thumb.
It wasn’t clear how swollen his thumb was. That
left us to guess it was too big for his glove to fit over, and looked like
something out of a Tom and Jerry cartoon.
Bochy seemed a lot less concerned than I was when
he spoke to the press - which I found irritating. I’m feeling a definite sense
of possession of my players, which I’m embarrassed to admit. I’m left asking
myself: Why don’t their actual managers feel the same?
